My Story
Discover my journey.
I’ve always been obsessed with news. As a teenager, I couldn’t stop watching it - glued to the screen, waiting for the next big story to break. I loved the way it was presented, the adrenaline of seeing the BREAKING NEWS slide, and the idea that any moment could be historic. Dinner at home always came with the local 6pm news - a comforting ritual that connected me to my community and the wider world.
When I was 15, my world opened up in ways I could never have imagined. My parents rather unconventionally took my brother and me out of school for six months to go backpacking around the world. From living with tribes in Kenya to road-tripping through New Zealand in a campervan, every stop gave me a glimpse of humanity in its rawest form. I wasn’t always the easiest traveller (as my parents would happily tell you, with a hundred stories to prove it), but those experiences sparked an insatiable curiosity about people - their stories, struggles, and triumphs.
That curiosity led me straight into journalism. I studied hard at Nottingham Trent University, immersed myself in student TV and radio, and graduated with First Class Honours.
After two years of persistence, I landed my big break - a place on ITV’s prestigious one-year trainee scheme. Within three months, I became one of ITV’s youngest regional reporters, based in the Channel Islands.
ITV
Reporting there was special. It wasn’t just about breaking news - it was about earning trust in a close-knit community. I covered sensitive stories on historic abuse, workplace bullying, and racism, often from people who had everything to lose by speaking out. The responsibility hit me hardest when a grieving mother called to thank me for telling her son’s story with compassion. Moments like that made it all worth it.

RTS AWARD WINNER
Winning an RTS Award for an interview with one of the last surviving war veterans was another defining highlight. His eyes carried decades of history, and I felt the weight of preserving his story. I was also lucky to work alongside my biggest mentors like Gary Burgess - a journalist of unmatched integrity - and Rob Milburn, the most talented cameraman I’ve ever known. Both lost their lives to cancer, and I think of them often.
FREELANCE
Freelancing later took me to Bristol and Birmingham, covering broader community issues and national stories - until COVID changed everything. I saw public trust in mainstream media begin to fracture, and constant travel made me question where I truly wanted to channel my storytelling energy.
AVIVA
That reflection led me to PR. I’d always been curious about “the other side” - how brands manage the balance between transparency and trust. At Aviva, I joined the media relations team and learned the precision and responsibility behind corporate communications.
PAX8
Then came Pax8, one of the fastest-growing cloud marketplaces. I led PR across EMEA, shaping messaging across the UK, DACH, Benelux, Nordics, and Baltics. Working in the IT channel felt like a full-circle moment - a global community that reminded me of those small islands I once reported from. Relationships were everything.
WIRED BUT HUMAN
After two and a half years, I felt that familiar pull toward something new. The tech world - especially among the MSP world - was bursting with untold stories. Stories not just for headlines, but for human connection.
So, on a flight home from the Philippines, somewhere over the Indian Ocean at an ungodly hour, I sketched out the idea for WIRED BUT HUMAN - an agency built to help tech companies communicate with authenticity, heart, and impact through video, podcasting, and PR.
That’s my story. And if I’m going to call myself a storyteller - I’d better tell it right.
